Recruiter contacted me quickly after I applied. His calendar was very busy but he managed to find time to speak to me. I was told that the company is making employees return to the office and was asked if I wanted to relocate to CA for this role. The funny thing is that I am based in another state where they have an office but don't advertise their office, and basically agreed that I can work in that (hidden) office location although manager is in CA. I did two interviews that went very well however they would never follow up with me after the interviews. I felt like I had to always push them to conduct the next interview round with me. Well then I found out online that in order to request PTO, you have to get your manager approval and your skip manager approval too! I thought that was crazy. Upon thinking harder about their difficult and unusual company culture, I decided to back off as other companies that were more appealing started to reach out to me. Eventually recruiter contacted me basically saying hiring manager woke up one day and decided job must be based in CA and again asking if I want to relocate. Who wants to work for someone who previously agreed to interview me based off my experience and then just suddenly changes their mind like that? I politely declined to continue the interview process. I can sense they micromanage and have strict office requirements, plus have strict PTO procedures as well.
