Applied online, had an initial phone call set up within about a week. In about another week, a 60 minute assessment - 30 with a manager, 30 for a live coding test which consisted of one person and another employee shadowing to learn the PagerDuty interview process. The first 30 minutes consisted mostly of general questions like "what's the largest team you've worked on" and "what has been one of your biggest technical challenges". The coding test consisted of a typical programming question with walkthrough and time complexity discussion.
Overall I feel like it was a fair interview, but it felt very impersonal and very strict - going off topic for even a second seemed like a no-no. The second part left a bad taste in my mouth...it felt as if the two might have been talking about something (online so I couldn't hear of course) or maybe making faces at each other about me or whatever else. Perhaps it's just me, but this is not a feeling I have experienced in any other interview and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Oh, then they abruptly ended the call because they had to go to a meeting. I understand getting back to work, but it felt rude that it ended SO quickly. Maybe don't schedule interviews so close meetings?
Got a 'no-reply' generic rejection email about a week later.
