Had a recruiter call, spent most of the time asking about my current role very little discussion of the role they were hiring for. They asked about salary, I indicated somewhere in the middle of the posted range (110-209k) would be interesting to me. Pressed for a number and gave them +/-10k (160-180k) at the mid point, but had some flexibility. Numbers were supported by salary info posted on Glassdoor. Was told the very bottom of that range would be pushing the max for this role. Next day got the rejection email. Felt like a waste of everyone's time if the midpoint of the published range would have been a stretch.
