      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Penguin Random House (New York, NY) in May 2013

      Interview

A week after applying I received a phone call asking if I would be available to come in for an interview later that day. I met with one editor individually (the one whom I would work most closely with) and then met with the entire team. It was fairly casual and they asked a few questions about my educational background, volunteer experience, and work experience. They answered some of my questions about the imprint and the sorts of books they published, and asked me how much I knew about the imprint prior to applying for this role. All of the editors were very friendly. The next day I received a phone call from the Human Resources representative, who offered me the internship.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Penguin Random House (New York, NY) in Jan 2016

      Interview

Interviewed with the entire team. Each asked good, relevant questions to the area of the company they manage. It was very conversational. Afterwards, there was a skills test that was very tailored to the product employees actually work with. I got to see the offices I would be working in, and overall it was a very pleasant experience. None of the questions were superfluous to the job.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Penguin Random House (New York, NY) in Jan 2014

      Interview

I originally applied online a couple months out for one of their semester internship programs but it was quick and easy once things got moving. I got a phone call from an HR rep who asked me what areas I would like to work in and then received a follow up call a few days later to schedule an interview. The actually interview was relaxed, conversational and very friendly. I was asked to supply an example of my writing. Standard interview questions mixed with personal interest in publishing. Received and accepted my offer the same day as my interview.
