Applied online, got a LinkedIn message saying I passed the digital screen requesting I complete a coderbyte challenge with screening questions (thought this was a little odd). Was told after that there would be 2 interviews if I passed it. I submitted it by the deadline with the challenge completed. Never got a reply to the LinkedIn message after I said I was done and then got an automated rejection email a few days later. Going into it I got a sort of toxic tech bro culture vibe, and did not appreciate them asking for a technical exercise without meeting first. The market is tough right now, so I went ahead with it but definitely felt a bit taken advantage of at the other side. To be fair they did say I could opt out and not continue with the application in the message "inviting" me to complete the coderbyte thing. The coding part of the coderbyte challenge was the react phone book one.
