      Senior Design Engineer Interview

      30 Oct 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Pratt & Whitney in Sept 2025

      Interview

Submit resume and their system autofills the same information into their application fields but you have to go in and edit it as it doesn't load correctly. Then there was a government conflict of interest form that came later; I'm not sure if this is a default thing or only after you pass a screening. Then after what I assume is more AI screening you get sent a online interview that is basically a set of questions in which you get to answer in long format. If you get selected for an in person interview HR will contact you directly; this will be your first human contact. However, this is where it gets weird. During this HR discussion the pay range gets discussed and the pay range they are willing to actually offer for the position is tens of thousands LESS than the advertised pay range. In this case, it was 44,000 dollars less. They attempted to justify this as leaving room for advancement within the role, but in reality is just meant I wasted a lot of time applying to a role. If you are not willing to accept this change in salary range, they will change your application status to indicate you chose to cancel your application due to lack of continued interest, which is not really true.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

It was required to answer why you left every job on your resume and why you want to leave your current role.
