      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      19 Dec 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Budapest
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Prezi (Budapest) in Jul 2024

      Interview

The algorithmic interview involved a data structure implementation and discussion around it. I was interviewed by two senior-level engineers who were very welcoming and open to discussion. I often get nervous during interviews, but the interviewers managed to create a calming atmosphere.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Prezi

      Interview

For me the interview process took several months. The interview was divided in multiple stages, first of which was the very relaxed and informal HR interview. This was followed by the HackerRank assignment on generic programming algorithms. The time here is very limited and I had some technical hiccups with HackerRank website however I passed it. The next step was the Skype interview with team members and project leader. Nothing too scary, however very focused on the latest technologies. I was given a small coding task during that too. After this, I was informed that they would like to continue the process and I was given a small programming task to finish at my own pace. This consisted of writing a full-fledged application and unit tests for it. Was informed that I passed it and I was flown to Hungary for the onsite days with a team. Their offices are really cool and the people are interesting. Most of them are young. Again, I was given a coding task to finish and had to prepare the prezi presentation describing the whole process. I didn’t pass here. Although I failed, overall it was a positive and refreshing experience. Good luck :)

      Interview

Everyone knows - even the big companies - that the whiteboard processing is seriously broken. It's a skill on it's own which one can learn, and after a while, anyone can pass whiteboard algorithm tests. Besides, just because someone passed the whiteboard test, it doesn't means the same person could perform adequately in his position on a day to day basis, or even work in a team. There is even a huge literature out there how to prepare for these tests - still only a very few companies trying to improve this process. Prezi is one of the places where they understood this. Prezi's interview process is the most unusual and interesting; they will give you equipment, and you'll go to their office for a week, and start working on a real project with their real codebase with your potential future team. You can use any tools, software, as you'd do normally on a day to day basis. Communication with team members also expected and encouraged. At the end of the assessment you summarize your experiences in a Prezi presentation. The Prezi interview experience is the best I've ever experienced.

You have to work in real projects with a real team. Projects might vary depending on your skills.
