I went through two interview rounds for an Account Executive role at Qwilr in November 2025. The first interview was with the Sales Manager, followed by a second interview shortly after with recuriter. Both conversations were positive, and I specifically raised the question of whether the role could be based in Perth, which I was told would be workable at the time.
After the second interview, communication became very slow, despite multiple follow-ups. Over a month later, I received an update saying the role had been put on hold, with encouragement to reapply in early 2026.
When the role reappeared in January 2026, I reapplied, only to be declined on the basis that Perth/WA was not an ideal location due to time zone overlap with the US-based team. This location constraint was not raised at any point during the initial interview process, nor was it mentioned in the earlier email encouraging me to reapply. Had this been communicated upfront, it would have helped set clearer expectations and avoided unnecessary time investment on both sides.
I appreciate that companies refine priorities over time, and the team was polite in their responses. However, clearer alignment and transparency around non-negotiables such as location and time zone earlier in the process would significantly improve the candidate experience.
