      Application

The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Relive in Oct 2024

      Interview

TL;DR : Don't apply to Relive. Applied via LinkedIn, they returned to me on email to fill a questionnaire with pretty common interview questions, stating they will return to me after filling it out within 3 days. They returned pretty quick to schedule a first interview. The interview went very nicely, the girl interviewing me was friendly. Then she told me I have to complete an assignment in order to meet with the design team. The assignment is a whole, big, topic that they are working on right now in the company, expecting me to solve it out for them. It is a big UX/UI case study which requires a UX research and UI design, plus a loom video with a complete walkthrough of the process. In the brief they stated literally that they asses the task assignment with how the thoughts process went, how I communicate it, and how I move from the problem to the solution. They state that it takes MAXIMUM 2 hours, which is complete nonsense, as it takes much way than that. I invested a lot in the assignment and worked on it for 4 to 5 days; preforming a UX research, sharing my thoughts, making a competitor analysis, defining the problem, building mockups and prototypes and even adjusting them on Photoshop. In addition I made a video as required for another 15 minutes. After a few days, they came back to me, stating that my design "is not bad, but it does not match a person in my experience", and that "I didn't focus in the UI, but just the UX and the research and thoughts". However, this was what they required in their brief. They apparently expected me to make a complete process and also to redesign their brand. I had read negative reviews about this position and assignment but chose to give Relive a chance. Unfortunately, I now regret that decision. My advice to anyone reading this: Don't waste your precious time with this company. They likely have no real intention of hiring you. They'll probably respond to this review with a politically correct reply, but trust me - you're better off steering clear. They’ll take your hard work for free (probably could also use your ideas and design), and never hire you. Stay away from a company that disrespects candidates' time and effort. You've been warned!

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The assignment was to find a solution in order to increase their video page to sign up form. As they want more people to sign up from a simple shared video page. They wanted to create a whole UX and UI process (however the brief ONLY emphasizes the UX part), plus also a video of you introducing yourself and walking them through your design.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Relive in Nov 2024

      Interview

I recently had a disappointing experience with Relive, a company I’d admired and wanted to join for over three years. I had applied for their product designer position, detailing my qualifications and enthusiasm in a presentation that took considerable time and effort to prepare. I received an email response two weeks later asking for answers to a pre-interview questionnaire. I promptly responded and received an invitation to schedule an initial interview in another two weeks, marking a month since I first applied, Ahead of the interview, I dedicated myself to extensive preparation, taking a full day off to focus solely on it. Even though it was the day of my grandmother’s funeral, I prioritized this interview due to the value I placed on the opportunity. However within the first minute, the recruiter informed me they couldn’t proceed because my location in Turkey meant a two-hour wintertime difference, which they couldn’t accommodate. I offered to explore relocaton options to nearby countries, knowing how committed I was to this opportunity, but the recruiter kept repeating that it was simply company policy. I was disheartened to realize that a company I respected so much could overlook dedication and talent due to strict policies on time zones—especially after a month of back-and-forth that had built my anticipation. This experience has unfortunately changed my perspective on Relive. A month-long process and then a last-minute policy-based rejection can leave a candidate feeling undervalued, which is disappointing for a company that prides itself on its people-first culture. I hope they reconsider their approach to hiring.

We are really sorry to hear that your experience with us wasn't what you expected. Unfortunately, we have to have policies in place for our time zones as we cannot make one rule for one person, whilst not allowing that rule to stand for another. I completely understand how frustrated you must be but unfortunately, we are simply not big enough to accommodate multiple time zones at the moment. As always, we do appreciate your feedback nonetheless!

Thanks for the review. Whilst we appreciate that people do like to take our assignments seriously, we have never received feedback that our assignments take 5 days to complete. Indeed, most candidates complete the assignment in 2 hours and have delivered great results. Sorry that you committed so much time that now feels wasted but it sounds like our partnership would never have been a success and therefore this result might be for the best. But wishing you all the luck in your future endeavours.
