I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at SevenRooms (Los Angeles, CA) in Oct 2025
Interview
Humiliating interview process. A recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn in mid-August. We agreed to have a quick phone screen in late August. There were four rounds in total, including the initial phone screen with the recruiter.
The second round was a Zoom interview with a member of the hiring team in early September, followed by a third round in late September, and finally a presentation round in late October.
The final round required a 20-minute presentation about past experience, including specific examples and a prepared slide deck, followed by a 10-minute Questions and Answer session.
It only took them 48 hours to send an automated rejection email with no indication of where I might have fallen short.
The fit seemed obvious, and I’m left wondering what kind of candidate they’re actually looking for.
I strongly recommend against applying or interviewing for this role, as the hiring team appears detached from reality. It seems they’re searching for a candidate who doesn’t exist, and I doubt they’ll fill the position externally anytime soon.
Save yourself the time and energy. The recruitment process is dishonest and feels like a humiliation ritual.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Here are the three topics I presented about during the final round (presentation with slide deck):
1. Relentless Ambition: Give an example of how you took initiative to solve a problem or create a new opportunity outside of your normal duties.
2. Disciplined Execution: Tell about a time when you dropped the ball with a customer and how you recovered to get back on track and changed your behavior to prevent it from happening again
3. Radical Candor: Explain when you’ve deal with resistance from someone at work (e.g., manager, team member, customer) and how you influenced them to do what you recommended
