Asked me to come in for an interview and the next week asked me to come in for a one hour job shadow. After I was asked for the shadowing I thought I was in for sure. The employee I shadowed just showed me some things that she does and I did nothing but watch I wasn't asked any questions or anything. After the shadowing I spoke with the interviewer and she asked how it was I said it went well and I liked it. She told me I made it to the next step and told me they would hopefully have a decision by Friday. I sent a thank you email the day of the shadowing and got no response. By Tuesday she still hadn't called so I called and asked about the position and she said she will be sending out emails about their choice later today or tomorrow. She called me back later that day to tell me that I was not chosen for the job and when I asked why she said they chose someone with more experience. This process was very unprofessional. If you are not seriously considering a candidate you should not be asking this person to take off 2 hours of work so they can shadow a job they won't get. They obviously known that this other candidate had more experience than I did from the beginning, so why ask me to shadow the job. I did nothing but watch at the shadowing so that couldn't have had any influence on their decision. Either way I don't think Shay is a good company to work for if they treat heir potential candidates this way.
