By the end of June, I sent my application for the Email Marketing Specialist position. It took about a month from my application date to finally hear back from the company with an invitation for an interview. So far, so good.
Two days later, I had my first interview with HR. The HR rep was super friendly, approachable, and even sprinkled in a touch of humor. It was a really pleasant conversation, and I'm pretty sure I nailed it! How do I know? Well, a couple of days later, I was invited to the second round of interviews. This time, it was with the person who would be my direct manager.
Now, this manager was also friendly, but the interview itself? Super boring. We basically went through my CV, and for every role mentioned, I was hit with the same set of questions: "What did you like the most? What did you dislike the most? What gave you the most pleasure?" ...yada yada yada (about 6 or 7 same repeating questions).
Not a single question about marketing in general, nor email marketing in specific. It was like she was reading from a script (and yes, she really was), not having an actual conversation.
Well, many weeks have passed (several months, to be exact) and, even after my follow-up emails, I haven't gotten any reply from them. I wasn't that lucky... Neither an email saying "No, go away, we don't want anything with you"... Rather, Let's talk about S... no... Ghosting (YES)!
Time to call the Ghostbusters... because I’ve been ghosted. "If you've had a dose of a freaky ghost, baby, you better call Ghostbusters."
Honestly, I hope they come out with a Ghostbusters' underwear edition. I’d definitely buy that!
