I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at SimilarWeb in Oct 2024
Interview
Started off by getting contacted by a recruiter. Expected 4 rounds of interviews: first just a call with HR, then two technical ones, and then soft skills with the VP.
The first two were fine, but at the third one, especially the hiring manager from Israel, had such a bad way of handling an interview—posing odd and incoherent questions that did not make sense. Later I told everything to HR, and to my surprise, they said that the hiring manager said I was unfocused. I did not even expect a follow-up to the fourth round as he was focused purely on only one technology instead of the whole skill set. Sadly, I had to say things multiple times, as I do not know if it got through.
On the fourth round on site, I expected to have a chat and just get to know the team; to my surprise, the hiring manager started to grill me on technical questions, and I was taken aback that this is not what I expected, and obviously he held grudges about me. Lastly there was just a buffer of 30 minutes to talk about things and obviously I would not pass as all the power was in his hands.
Even though it was mostly a wasted time as I thought from the first three rounds there would be a match, I know now that you should know your worth and that you should call these people out if they do a bad job in the hiring process.
