      Leadership Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Skillz in Aug 2020

      Interview

This was the most unprofessional interview I have experienced in 30 years of business. It started out typically. 3-4 30-40 minute zoom calls over two weeks. Then I was asked to spend 4 days over a weekend to produce a high-level overview of my plan for the department, my strategy for making Skillz successful and my ideas for marketing campaigns. A bit much, but I liked the company so accommodated this request. Feedback was they loved it, thought the ideas were innovative and just wanted to adjust a couple of things, elaborate more here and there and make the presentation even more visual so I could present it to the CRO and others. Also asked me to download at least 75 more of their games and make sure to spend time on them all! I had already spend significant time on their top 20 mind you. Everything seems to be going great, then I get a call the day I’m supposed to give the presentation. The recruiter says they will not be moving forward with me. No logical reasons given. Some vague suggestion that I left out financial planning section (which wasn’t asked for). Unfortunately, I have to agree with all the other commenters here. It was completely unprofessional and an abusive misuse of a candidates time. Seems like they just wanted a free consultation and fresh ideas. The one good thing was the recruiter, Ben. He was one of the best I’ve dealt with.
