I applied online and was contacted by a senior SETA for a preliminary interview. My background and experience matched very well with what they were looking for and the interviewer said they were looking to fill the position yesterday so she would be in touch to schedule a meet and greet with the company and client the following week. Verbally, the interviewer made it sound like I was exactly the candidate they were looking for. A week came and and went, I followed up and got a half hearted response of "we've sent CVs to the client to review." Another month went by and I got another email asking if I was still interested. At this point I had already assumed they filled the position but why not? The scheduling for the in person took another two weeks. When I finally came in, the interviews with the contracting folks went great (just your usual narrative of what it was like to work with that particular client). When I met with the client, it seemed like he didn't even want me there. He had literally no questions for me to the point of my having to go "ok well why don't I tell you about myself?" after a super awkward silence.
I was told I was the first person they were interviewing for the slot (shocking considering the time line!) and they had only one other candidate on the docket (whose background had nothing to do with the program). I never got a follow up other than a basic "the PM enjoyed meeting with you, I'll let you know when I know" after I pestered HR.
Overall an incredibly frustrating and unprofessional experience.
