Tactical Air Support interview questions

Interview went well I thought. Then I got a few call backs clarifying some things, not a problem! Was told an offer was coming so I just waited patiently. When the verbal offer came out, I asked about flexibility in the base salary and was told the lead would have to make that determination. No problem, I get it! Waited a couple weeks and no further words. Reached out to the recruiter about the position and was told they offered it to someone else. Didn’t receive any counter or anything saying they changed directions.
