I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Tecolote Research (El Segundo, CA) in Feb 2020
Interview
There was a standard phone screening to begin the process. A couple weeks later, it was followed up with a paired programming interview to assess programming knowledge. The entire ordeal was fairly straightforward, but it was very slow.

Question 1
Implement a set in a test-driven development environment. The interview was conducted as a paired programming interview.
I was first contacted by the recruiter to come in for an in person interview. It looked like she had sent this to all applicants as there was no recipient email and the content of the email never mentioned my name. I provided my availability, and she emailed me with one of the options to hold for now. A few days later, she emailed saying that due to large number of applicants, they wanna do a phone interview first. This just proved my theory that they had sent the email to everyone and never even looked at anyone's resume.
My interviewer had a hard time asking questions and making his point. He often paused for a long period of time which made me feel uncomfortable.
I followed up with the recruiter for any updates, but she never got back to me.
My interviewer talked about how the company and its people care about their employees, and I wish they did the same for their applicants to at least get back to you.
Hello and thank you for sharing your experience with us. Our goal is to provide a positive experience to all potential team-members and we are disappointed to hear we fell short of that goal with you. All resumes submitted for a specific job posting are reviewed by the local HR and the hiring manager; and requests for an interview are only sent to selected candidates. In your case, it sounds like we could have done a better job with our follow-up communication after the interview. We apologize for the oversight and have passed your observations to our recruiting team as part of our process to continually improve the candidate experience. Thank you for your posting. If you have additional feedback or questions about the process, please feel free to contact us at CorporateHumanResources@Tecolote.com.
