      Supervisor, Production Engineering Interview

      20 May 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Sparks, NV
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Tesla (Sparks, NV) in May 2018

      Interview

I applied online originally for the Production Manager role. Within days, I got contact by a recruiter to schedule a phone screening. I got asked the typical questions; however, was deemed not qualified for the role, but was qualified to continue to work a Tesla in some magnitude. Phone call lasted like 15-minutes and she said she was going to pass along my interview to another recruiter. On the same day, I was contacted by that recruiter to set up another phone screen. On the date we agreed on, we had another 30-minute phone call. Typical questions on why I wanted to work for Tesla as well as my background. He recommended me for the Production Engineering Supervisor role and discussed the compensation, hours, and willingness to relocate to Sparks, NV. After that, he set me up to have a phone interview with a Production Engineering Manager. Interview Process Summary: I got two phone screens from different managers. If you pass both, then you would be invited to the Gigafactory for an onsite interview. The onsite consisted of a presentation on a project you completed as well as a panel of 5 separate interviews lasting about 30-min each. A tour is not offered, but they are really nice and will try to work with you or if you really get along with one of the interviewers, they may just offer to give you one. That happened to me. Entire onsite took 3.5-hrs to complete. Not really tough if you are qualified for the position you a applying for and have the evidence to back up that experience. Most difficult is have the stamina for the onsite as it feels like your going through a meat grinder because it's interview after interview and that is after your presentation. Interview Overall: Entire process was really fluid and fast. I think the reason is because at this time, they are really ramping up hiring as production results are starting to come together. If you make it to the onsite, you come out a winner either way because the experience to be at the Gigafactory is absolutely amazing. This building is huge and truly state of the art. Still waiting for an answer as I just had my final interview. Interview Tips: Know why you want to work for Tesla. You would get asked this question about 4 to 5 times. Aside from that, they are really looking for candidates that have a blend of Engineering and Management experience in manufacturing.
