Hiring VP asked very few questions. I found out she was more focused on the fact I was wearing a t-shirt during our remote interview then the 22 years of experience I had in technology that would have enhanced her team. I understand dressing up for more formal interviews, but a phone interview should be 1:1 about the job and the skill sets I offer. I’ve personally interviewed dozens of interviewees, and if they had an outstanding resume with decades of soft and hard skills, I would look past their attire. Unless it was very inappropriate. We live in a day and age where remote work is the norm. Who cares if I’m wearing a t-shirt. If that’s all you’re concerned with then I would not want to work there.
