I received a cold call from a recruiter with this company, while it was obvious English was not his first language, and he seemed uncomfortable in the call, I try to give people the benefit of the doubt when it comes to language. However, the more the call went on, the more I started to voice my concern, and to which I eventually ended the call. I had originally recieved an email from him, and when I responded he called me, which has been typical in my experience with recruiters so I thought nothing of it. He clearly had my resume from somewhere, as he was able to tell me what was on it, but wasn't willing to accept my answers on things such as gap in time. I addressed the fact that typically with recruiters they tell me what the pay range is, and he kept asking me what my expectations were regardless. Eventually he told me he could pay upwards of $40/hr, which is substantial higher than most tenured credentialing specialist positions. My first contract position hired me at $15, and when I was laid off from my previous position I was making $26, other recruiters have told me that they are currently hiring around $18/hr for contractors. So to hear more than double was a red flag. I got to the point where I told him this was starting to sound like a scam because of the way he was asking me questions, so I told him to remove me from the pool of applicants and to have a nice day.
