I interviewed for a social media specialist role and took the time during my vacation to find the right setting and room for a video conference only to have it be a phone call that could have happened anywhere. Wasting my time on vacation started us off on the wrong foot.
I had a great background, and we connected pretty well, but UC Health fetishizes paid Facebook ads even if finding success with organic is harder. (And I can tell they prefer paid Facebook posts because they need help on their boring organic copy. Yikes!) They wanted someone with a budget experience of $100k, and I only had several hundred to a few thousand campaign experience. What a ridiculous demand!
What made matters worse was the rejection email claiming I was on "a great path for learning." I know that this response was well-intentioned, but I am a little too far along in my career to be "on a great path of learning." I ran the social for the nationwide brand for 4-plus years, and before that, I have 3 years in B2B. You write that if TikTok marketing were a requirement and not being picky with having enough paid experience (from a budget standpoint).
