I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Vanguard (Malvern, PA) in Jan 2020
Interview
Phone interview with internal recruiter.
Phone interview with Hiring Manager.
On-site interview with Hiring Manager, another PM, Engineering Department Head and Senior Manager of another group.
Fairly standard process and rather quick turnaround (which was nice).
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Fairly basic PM questions:
1) Have you worked in an agile environment?
2) Greatest strength / weakness
3) Tell me about a time when you've had to deal with a difficult colleague
The small panel interview (2-1) was really awkward as the engineering lead started out by asking me how many kids I have and what my family situation was like. That threw me off.
Met with two managers face to face in the head office. Relatively easy interviews questions - most of them related to experience outlined on my resume and asking to expand upon specific scenarios.
After the first interview, HR contacted me to let me know they would be in touch to organise a 2nd interview which would involve a case study presentation.
After multiple weeks of silence or minimal contact, after calling the HR representative once a week I was then blocked by her, going straight to voicemail.
First is an HR screening with basic questions to make sure you are minimally qualified. Then, 3 rounds of interviews. First with peers, then manager and then other leaders. All interviews were virtual.
