      Product Manager Interview

      2 Oct 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Vokal

      Interview

I was contacted by a recruiter, and had a preliminary phone interview. It was somewhat odd since they mention the negative reviews here and how the company has changed since 2017, but there are mixed interviews in 2019. That was a red flag to me since they know about the negative reviews, and it seems like they are still getting mixed reviews in 2019 which makes me question the positive reviews if they are real or not. I was going to be pushed forward, and that's where it went off the rails a bit. I was notified how they wanted to talk within the next day, and possibly meet a manager a day later on short notice. As in less than 24 hours since some guy was in the office from out West. What's odd is they seem to be anxious to hire someone, but they admitted they have gone through this process several times with no on meeting their standards. Another red flag to me of no direction or understanding what they want and need. Let alone the chaotic process which I can accept, but understand many people you're interviewing have full time jobs. It's not easy for people to drop everything, show no suspicions to your boss, and head off to an interview. Finally the phone interview was okay, but there is clearly a gap between recruitment and the manager. They asked questions that I have already explained I don't have experience in such as client to client experience, and they never contacted me back to let me know they moved on with others. To me the chaotic setup, the lack of direction on what they want, and the lack of response where things are at is why they get a negative review. If you're going to try to drag time out of my schedule, have the decency to let me know what happen.
