Entered the process through a referral. Spoke with a recruiter who said they were moving me on to the next step in the process. About a week later I received an email from the recruiter stating they had received feedback from the team and wanted to share. Turned out to be a rejection. I thanked them for calling to tell me, and asked if they could share the team's feedback, so I might be a better candidate in the future. They said they didn't have any. So the "feedback" was simply that they decided to pass.
To Volusion: Can you see how that feedback isn't very helpful?
While I appreciate that a phone call is a more personal way of letting rejected candidates down, I would suggest framing it in a context other than "feedback". True feedback is helpful and actionable. Simply telling someone they've been rejected without providing any insight into how they can improve isn't really feedback, it's just an update.
