I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Westfield School District (Westfield, MA) in Aug 2011
Interview
I went to the town hall in Westfield and look to see what jobs were hiring. I seen that the school district was looking for cafeteria workers. I got an application right there and filled it out and handed it in. In about 7-10 days I received a call to come to 94 N. Elm Str. for an interview. I showed up and there were a bunch of other ladies in the room with a few ladies handing out pamphlets. One of the pamplets was a background check and a CORY check, because of the fact of working around children. One lady was Suzanne Scallione and she gave us the basic run down of what was expected of the workers of the cafeteria during the school year. And then also the substitutes during the school year. And then it kicked in that I was a substitute when Mrs. Scallione had a bunch of the ladies go into a different room and about 15 of us stay in the same room. So we filled out our documents and on a separate paper our availability and gave our cell and home numbers again. The ladies came around and did individual interviews. I was asked if I minded working at different schools? If I preferred to work with the elementary students or high school students? I started working for the first week of school.
