I applied at Zalando twice.
For the first position, they reached out to schedule a call with the recruiter (make sure to regularly check your Gmail Promotions folder, Gmail sometimes filters their recruitment emails there instead of Primary). The call went well, the recruiter seemed to be quite in a hurry though. Here I also found that the role they are interviewing me for is more senior than the one I applied for. After that, an interview with the hiring manager was scheduled. The interview didn't go that well, it became clear to me that I might be underqualified for this more senior role. The hiring manager was polite but quite serious and digging deep into my experience and technical knoweldge of program management. The next day, the recruiter emailed to me schedule a feedback call. In the feedback call, she provided quite detailed feedback and explained that they are currently looking for someone with more experience but that they liked me as a potential Zalando fit and encouraged me to apply again for a more appropriate position. I appreciated getting the personal and actionable feedback.
About a month later, I applied for a different role more fitting my years of experience. Again I had a call with a recruiter first, this time a different lady who was very nice and we had a great chat. After that, I had an interview with the hiring manager. The interview was very pleasant, he was mostly interested in understanding my motivation for the job and making sure I'm making the right decision switching fields, so most questions were about that. At the end of the interview, he said he's looking forward to seeing me in the next round. However, about a week later, the recruiter reached out that the position has been cancelled due to internal changes and encouraged me to apply again should an appropriate position appear. This was a little frustrating but understandable.
Overall, I had a good experience with the Zalando hiring processes and would not hesitate to apply again in the future.
