      Product Marketing Manager Interview

      19 Nov 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at data.ai (San Francisco, CA) in Sept 2015

      Interview

This was a fairly standard interview process: - 1 phone screen with a recruiter - 2nd phone screen with hiring manager - 3hr in-person interview with several stakeholders across the product team Overall, the process was appropriate, but they were very focused on their Glassdoor reviews. The experience working with the recruiting team was perfect - very organized. The interviewers, on the other hand, were very misaligned in the requirements for the role. It seemed as though they had no idea what was needed for the position, and were simply testing my familiarity with the product.

      Product Marketing Manager Interview

      9 Dec 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at data.ai (San Francisco, CA) in Nov 2015

      Interview

Phone screen with the team lead then an onsite with 4 people in 30 minute blocks each. The interview itself was pretty easy and straightforward. No real thought provoking or challenging questions. Just the basic describe a challenge you've had at work, what was your most successful project, etc. Sadly after talking with the team I've lost a lot of faith in App Annie as a company. The product marketing team is very inexperienced and lacks direction. I spoke with 4 people and none of them any relevant experience to their position before App Annie. Also none of them had any experience working with or for mobile developers, so they seemed a bit lost in understanding how to communicate and market to them. This was odd because hiring people with experience working for developers wasn't important to them at all. Instead of hiring a product marketing manager, it felt like they should have had someone more sr. at the company interviewing people for a higher level role to actually lead the team. I'm not sure if management there even reads these reviews, but if they do they should strongly consider bringing in someone with experience in product marketing and mobile development.
