      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at sunday in May 2022

      Interview

Recruiter reached out via LinkedIn, moved things along quickly, but I didn't have much insight into the salary range - it was pretty low, but there was no concrete answer to my question - or what the process would look like. Spoke with hiring manager, he was really frank and transparent about the role. Was then sent an assessment which seemed more fitting for a manager-level role rather than the role this had been presented as (rather entry-level). This was to be submitted and I would go through an hour long review with the hiring manager, head of onboarding, and co-founder. I got through most of it, but it seemed off-putting to have a candidate complete the amount of work they were requiring so I withdrew. Most companies do require some level of assessment; however, this one in particular seemed somewhat as if they're taking advantage of a candidate by having them draft business plans, extract, analyze data and present solutions for the company. For the amount of work they are requiring prior to even having the job, it's not uncommon to submit assessments, but it is uncommon for a company to not offer any sort of compensation for the amount of work you're doing for them. The interview process did not make me doubt how capable the team is at Sunday, but it did make me doubt if I would be compensated fairly for the amount of work I would be putting in.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

How would you structure a game plan to onboard 500 restaurants in Greater Miami in the next 3 months? Assume we have 0 live restaurants today, and the Sales Team is closing leads by the dozen? What actions would you take and what would you prioritize to ensure we reach the target? Sunday has acquired a new restaurant customer and you are scheduled to onboard them next week. What are the critical things to ensure go well in the activation session? What is the biggest risk for the restaurant? How would you enthuse and inspire confidence in new restaurant owners joining the platform? How would you manage long-term relationships with restaurants and ensure all of our clients become ambassadors of our product? Expected output for Part 1: 2 - 4 slides should make for perfect discussion support. An Excel to support your projections. As a member of the Operations team, you’ll be responsible for onboarding restaurants and ensuring that the penetration of the sunday product in those restaurants continues to grow (more and more guests choose to pay with sunday). You’ll be using dashboards to examine this kind of data on a daily basis. Take a look at the following charts. They are 2 separate instances that are unrelated. Describe what you are seeing in the data Generate a list of hypotheses to identify what might be driving the trends Brainstorm a list of interventions to reverse the trends - be creative! Chart 1, then Chart 2. Expected output for Part 2: 1 slide with explanations per chart. Numerical Test Operations You'll find enclosed a CSV file (that you can open either in Excel or Google Sheets) with a dataset. You can run any kinds of commands you’d like on the data to arrive at the most well-informed conclusion. The General Manager needs your help to understand more about our business, here are the questions they’d like answers to. Overall volume: What is the daily transaction volume that we have processed for each restaurant in the week starting April 5th ? - What is our Peak service (Weekday x lunch | dinner) at Restaurant #1? What may cause Restaurant #2 payment pattern? Payment / Costs questions: What is the combination of Card brand and card funding that brings the highest cost to Restaurant #1? - What percentage of our bills are split between multiple users? How would you compute our payment success Rate? Tips to better understand the Stripe extract: One line is for one transaction cost, so there are typically several lines per transaction (as one transaction usually has several costs associated) Knowing this, be careful not to double count the transactions: the best method to get the volume is to take the variable_volume_amount in the volume_fee Expected output for Part 3: 1 slide per question showcasing how you manipulated the data to arrive at your conclusion.
