About the Role
We are looking for a
Bid Writer / Bid Coordinator to join our Strategy & Business Development (S&BD) team based frm our Advanced Manufacturing Facility in Ampthill, Bedfordshire. This role benefits from our 4xFlex working pattern, offering a
4-day working week Monday - Thursday and
hybrid working. Onsite working days are Monday and Tuesday, with Wednesday and Thursday worked from home subject to business needs.
Reporting to the Head of Capture, this role is responsible for supporting the successful delivery of bids and proposals across the S&BD portfolio. The successful candidate will coordinate bid activities, support proposal development, manage governance requirements and produce high-quality written content that contributes to winning new business opportunities.
The role will work closely with Capture Managers, Business Development Leads, Subject Matter Experts and Functional Teams to ensure bids are delivered on time, to a high standard and in accordance with company policies and processes.
Bid Coordination & Delivery-
Coordinate assigned bid and proposal activities from opportunity qualification through proposal submission.

Develop and maintain bid schedules, action trackers and submission plans.

Ensure bid activities are appropriately planned, resourced and delivered to agreed timescales.

Coordinate contributions from cross-functional teams including Engineering, Commercial, Programmes, Supply Chain, Finance and Quality.

Support proposal production activities including document management, formatting, version control and final submission preparation.

Manage bid repositories, templates, lessons learned and proposal content libraries.

Ensure all proposal deliverables are completed, reviewed and submitted in accordance with customer requirements.
Proposal Writing & Content Development-
Develop high-quality proposal responses, executive summaries, capability statements and supporting documentation.

Interview subject matter experts and translate technical information into clear, compelling customer-facing content.

Ensure proposal responses are compliant, customer-focused and aligned to win themes and business strategy.

Support the development and maintenance of standard proposal content, reusable text and customer-focused collateral.

Review and edit proposal submissions to ensure consistency, accuracy and professional presentation.

Support the preparation of Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs), Requests for Information (RFIs), Invitations to Tender (ITTs) and Requests for Proposal (RFPs).
Governance & Business Winning Support-
Support Business Development and Capture teams in the preparation of governance reviews including Opportunity Reviews, Position-to-Win Reviews, Pink Team, Blue Team, Red Team and Gold Team reviews.

Maintain accurate bid and opportunity information within company systems and reporting tools.

Support the preparation of management reports, pipeline updates, order forecasts and sales metrics.

Ensure compliance with Business Development, Quality and Corporate Governance processes.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the function.
Stakeholder Management-
Work collaboratively with Capture Managers, Business Development Leads and Functional Teams to deliver successful proposals.

Build effective working relationships across the organisation to facilitate timely and high-quality proposal development.

Support customer visits, industry events and business-winning activities where required.

Provide administrative and coordination support to the wider Business Development and Capture team.

Required skills, qualifications and experience
- Demonstrable experience in bid coordination, proposal development, business development support or a similar role.

Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise and persuasive documents.

Experience coordinating multiple tasks and stakeholders within challenging deadlines.

Strong organisational and planning skills with excellent attention to detail.
-
Experience producing reports, presentations and management information.
-
Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and SharePoint.
-
Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
-
Strong proofreading, editing and document management skills.
-
Ability to confidently present information to peers and immediate leadership.

Ability to obtain and maintain Security Clearance (SC).
Desirable Skills & Experience-
Experience writing bids, proposals, PQQs, ITTs or tender responses.

Experience working within the UK Defence sector.

Experience supporting UK MoD or Government procurement opportunities.

Familiarity with Shipley, APMP or similar business-winning methodologies.

Understanding of capture management and opportunity lifecycle processes.

Experience using CRM and pipeline management tools.

Experience supporting governance reviews and business-winning activities.
-
Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams including Engineering, Programmes, Commercial and Operations.
