I have been working at Alarm.com full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Smart & friendly co-workers, challenging problems, and an environment in which you're emboldened to effect change.

    Cons

The overall team feels the burden of growth since a good amount of focus has to be put bringing people up-to-speed while still fulfilling regular obligations

I worked at Alarm.com full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Fun atmosphere with nice people. Opportunity to work the latest home automation and security hardware/software. Good job to gain experience right out of college but not a place to stay long if advancement is a focus for you.

    Cons

    - low pay - lack of real opportunities - push back to change - only compensates managers to push unrealistic goals on underappreciated and underpaid employees - upper management out of touch with how employees actually feel - company has plenty of cash but unwilling to spend it on employees

    Advice to Management

You will never keep good talent if you don't pay or provide opportunities for growth.

I worked at Alarm.com full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - office amenities - 40 hour work weeks are normal (see cons for more details on hours) - flexible schedule - friendly people - large portion, if not all, of health insurance is covered

    Cons

Edit: the formatting didn't get pushed with the review. "----" is a topic and "__" is my experience to support the most recent topic. My perspective and experience. When talking to others in the department, I realized some of these points are not limited to me. ---- lack of growth opportunities __You can put in more hours, but you're likely to just get the next set of regressions that much sooner. It's tedious...

I have been working at Alarm.com full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Super friendly office, pretty much 0 deadlines as an SE, company outings and events, and super flexible on schedule and moving around work for life events. Health insurance is good, and office is right by the metro stop which makes commuting great if you ride it. There are a lot of very smart engineers here and its a good place to start a career in software.

    Cons

401k match is pretty low, paternal leave is abysmal at 2 weeks.

I worked at Alarm.com full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good cluture, feels like startup. Good place to work for entry level jobs. Alarm.com is fast-paced and customer-centric. Good benefits, paid vacations etc. but that is common for an IT firm.

    Cons

fake management, you word hard, you deliever so many projects at the same time but when time comes for promotion, salary etc. they ask you to work on more projects.

    Advice to Management

You really need to be more open minded and transperent.

I worked at Alarm.com full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Friendly people Nice work space A lot of social gatherings outside of work.

    Cons

I felt that the IT department was/is being micromanaged. There are policies and procedures in place but management does not trust the employees to execute them. They are a little too hands on no matter how small the issue is. Technicians and Engineers can only do what they are told and are unable to implement any of their own ideas. Management is mostly comprised of old buddy system from Microstrategy.

    Advice to Management

HR should do exit interviews and take the feedback seriously and you will figure out the source of the problem in the IT department.

    Cons

There aren't many cons to working here, honestly. - if you're an introvert you might find it difficult to handle all of the social interaction and events that are regularly featured for the staff - things change pretty often and it requires you to be flexible and ready to switch gears pretty quickly

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing!
