Pros

There are quite many companies using the Algo's software, so you might well land a job with them. You get a large exposure to both market and credit risk.

Cons

No out-of-work life, very low salaries, a lot of stress. Large rate of turn-over. You have to learn everything by yourself, everybody is too "busy" to teach you. You have to do your job from scratch, with little interaction. Lack of coordination and difficult contact with Toronto, due to the time difference.

Pros

Great people in the software and financial engineering side. Good documentation Good work life balance Casual attire Some traveling

Cons

People with no financial or software development knowledge have recently been assigned senior management positions. They are making very poor decisions and alienating the employees. This new management has created a poisonous environment and many good people have left Algo in the recent couple of years.
