Pros

A very unique story of twin-sister marketers who found a need in the Marketing technology space and built a solid product. Rare to see something like this in the SaaS industry. A good list of recognizable B2B brands and Fortune 500 companies making good use of Allocadia. Generally, clients speak highly of the product and it allows them to achieve the goals they set out upon purchase (still work to be done solving the Marketing ROI question). VP-level leaders are experienced and knowledgeable. Offices are modern and Allocadia offers some good perks: snacks etc. Some significant cash in the bank following $30M in financing. You'll have all the tech you need to do your job, maybe even a little shelf-ware to look at.

Cons

The level of politicking at the leadership level is extremely high for an organization of Allocadia's size. CEO, CMO, COO, CPO show a real lack of trust in the leaders and line workers they hire. I got the impression that C-suite was in over their heads but either didn't know it or didn't have the maturity to recognize the fact and get the help they need. Office is dead quiet because employees aren't confident that leadership trusts them enough to perform their jobs. Organization is extremely top heavy, tons of C-suite, tons of VPs, tons of directors. Some good folks but for the most part people are getting in one another's way rather than removing obstacles and motivating their teams. There is a HUGE discrepancy in the accountability that is applied to the different teams within the company. Sales is constantly blamed for the shortcomings of the organization. The company has fired or turned over four different sales leaders in four years with no adjustments in other supporting departments. Sales team gets blamed in company meetings and talked down to in front of other departments. When wins do happen leaders have no idea how to celebrate a job well done, they take credit or place it in folks who were tangentially involved in a win. Major changes to sales team after CRO hired. He was poorly vetted and NOT a good cultural fit for the organization. Team shrunk from 13 to three in less than three months. Sales process was "junior-ized" and over-simplified under the new leader forcing out tenured reps and folks looking to learn a consultative sales approach. C-suite was looking for a documented sales process, they got it, but it doesn't fit with the product being sold or the market it's being sold into. If you are a salesperson considering joining Allocadia you should know that the sales culture is extremely poor. Other teams regularly miss their KPIs/goals and are not held accountable. Sales process isn't well understood by leadership and the discipline itself is held in low regard.

Thank you for sharing a thorough review of your experience and for your support of our story, customers, and the value we bring to them. Our goal is to provide a positive career-defining experience for team members and we regret this was not the case for you. A number of reviews like yours were shared in this timeframe immediately following changes within our sales team. It was tough on the team, especially sales team members, and we take responsibility for it. Feedback is important to us so that we can learn and improve, and we have deepened our focus on investing in people and culture initiatives since then. Some specific investments we’ve made related to your feedback include: Implementing a performance development system which includes reviews, peer-to-peer feedback, and self-assessments; A new Leader/Leader framework with team ambassador representation; Increased communication around our vision, mission and goals; A cloud-based solution that regularly measures engagement across our team, including sharing results and feedback back to the team. In sales specifically, we’ve on-boarded great new sales team members who have created sales recognition programs, participated in a collaborative process to recruit new team members, and helped shape our sales process; and we’re implementing company-wide revenue initiatives such as product-led growth where all teams participate in sales goals. We appreciate your contributions while you were with us, and best of luck in your new role. - Kristine, Co-Founder and CEO and Katherine, Co-Founder and CPO

C-Suite Needs To Step Down

Pros

Convient office location, which is close to public transport and clean. Lots of space, as you are not cramped in with other workmates.

Cons

The leadership team is holding the company back, as they do not understand how to manage people, which has resulted in so many talented people leaving, or being pushed out. These people were trying to use their experience to help right the ship, but it was seen as being combative, or disruptive to an already frantic strategy laid out by the C-Suite. The dead weight that sits atop of this company it mind blowing. The CEO changes her mind more than the wind changes direction and she can't see a strategy through to completion. She has hired and fired 6 sales VP's in 3 years. 3 YEARS! The COO simply spends his time surfing LinkedIn and building PPT's for the CEO, as she is too busy telling everyone else how to do their jobs. There are a couple leaders below that have the ability to do great things, but are consistently silenced. The other leaders spend more politicking then trying to truly help the situation.

Pros

A good work life balance.

Cons

A merger and acquisition led to a slow death to what was probably one of the best engineering cultures in Vancouver, and an exodus of half of the product and engineering team including the majority of senior talent and engineering and design management. Stagnant below-market salaries, no equity in the new company, and uninspiring product leadership all contributed to people leaving, but but biggest factor was that the work was no longer fulfilling. If you want a mediocre job but stable job, earning a below market salary, working on bad legacy software, then this might be the place for you.

Thank you for your review. I’m sorry to hear that your experience and work with us was not fulfilling for you following the recent merger. Finding the right balance for a newly merged company is one of the most challenging aspects of any merger and takes some time to get right. As you know, we seek feedback on a regular cadence and have already begun implementing changes based on what we’ve learned. I’m happy to report that we’ve received positive feedback on these changes. We appreciate your candid feedback and continue to work on making the new company a place where people feel inspired and excited to do their best and most creative work. Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts. Mirko, CEO
