Pros

The only reason I can think of is to get a fintech company on your CV

Cons

- Despite hiring on permanent contracts, let several new hires go (including myself after just 3.5 months and one after less than a month) due to project budget being ‘pulled’ without warning. - Equipment wasn’t ready for first day despite 7 weeks notice of start date leaving me to use my own machine for the first few days of my first week. - Hardware offered was in terrible condition, was sent a 4 year old MacBook with huge dents, scratches and even keys falling off the keyboard. Sent pictures to IT manager and they confirmed they were aware of the state of the machine before sending. - Requested secondary monitor and was told I’d need to bring a ‘large suitcase’ to the office as they wouldn’t courier it (this was despite onboarding remotely during office restrictions) - CTO would WhatsApp message at inappropriate times of day (9-10pm sometimes) as well as on bank holidays - Despite making clear several times during the interview process I could not travel to the office on Wednesdays and repeatedly being told it wasn’t a problem, that meeting were always on Thursdays instead, I found out on my first week that it was in fact Wednesdays that all in office meetings took place. - Lack of communication between teams - HR is completely unaware of the UK teams activities. Despite being on effective garden leave following the company giving me my 3 months notice I repeatedly had requests for timesheets to be filled in from the HEAD of HR… - Despite the companies small employee size the CEO didn’t even sign the letter or sign off the email informing me of my contract termination through no fault of my own, this was left to a financial administrator to communicate instead. In fact the CTO had made clear the only enquiry the CEO had made about myself had been to make sure I wasn’t being left idle during my 3 months notice period. - Little trust in technical decisions from even senior developers, CTO micromanaged a lot

Pros

You have the freedom to work on what interests, there is a massive help from the management to guide and motivate you. Also give the freedom to manage yourself.

Cons

Even though the company is 25+ years old, they still work like a startup, and move in a good speed. i liked it.
