    Cons

Some areas of the building are in need of refurbishment, especially the staff canteen The air con around the building is temperamental Lack of benefits and incentives Some roles aren't paid well enough

    Advice to Management

Continue providing great support and communication Colleagues would very much appreciate more thought into recognition and benefits. This would be greatly received. Canteen could be painted, currently the pictures on display of the ladies are lovely, however, I'm tired of looking at them. I'm sure they no longer look that way : )

I worked at Ann Summers full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Have made some really great friends working in the head office Worked on a fun and interesting department Within my role, I was able to travel a small amount Decent discount - but then, everything is discounted every single day anyway?

    Cons

The company constantly adds more directors to the top but decides to make smaller, equally as important roles at the bottom of the chain redundant - therefore applying more pressure to those in the middle. More work - same pay. All the promises of a promotion or a pay rise but these promises are rarely met. If they are met, it would be after a year or so of that person working extra job roles to fill the gap - but... it is almost never reflected in the pay. This head office is the most rundown place I have ever worked.!! Massive cracks through the walls of the main stairways, kitchens are dirty and have a lack of facilities, there have been rat problems throughout the offices in the past and you are not allowed new office chairs even if your one is broken. Being located in Whyteleafe, it is very difficult to organise any social events. There is one expensive and terrible quality cafe across the road - that is it! The company does not seem as though it is not going to last very long, but if it does it will have a very slow and painful death.

I worked at Ann Summers full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Pros? Ha! You've got to be kidding me... there are absolutely NONE!

    Cons

Well, how do I put this... Ann Summers is seriously the worst place I have ever worked. For a brand that wants to be seen as "premium" and is self proclaimed as an "iconic empire", the head office is absolutely disgusting, vile and filthy! How did they ever pass health and safety regulations? It's actually a disgrace and needs major renovation, ASAP! The turnover is crazy high because the higher ups have no idea... on what they are doing with the brand and are stuck in their old ways. They can't understand that what worked for them 10 years ago will not work now and it trickles down throughout the whole company. Management is the worst. They act all high and mighty and think because they have "Manager" in their title, they are better than you and can treat you in any way and get away with it... when in reality they have got to be some of the most incompetent people you'll ever come across. The lack of respect they have for employees here is absolutely astonishing, they are truly NOT qualified. How even did they get the role?! No wonder all the good and hard working employees leave! There is no work structure nor is there any team structure. No working briefs are ever provided, deadlines for work are never met on time, very disorganised and management think they can dump work on you without explanation and expect you to get it done. It is highly stressful to complete work because people keep interfering and changing their mind every two seconds! This can and will mess with your mental health! They don't and will never care for the well-being of their employees. It's truly a toxic place to work. Diversity? Won't find it here! The racial undertones and microaggressions that spew throughout this company are vile. Misogyny runs deep here. Isn't it ironic how they are always talking about "female empowerment", but have some of the most misogynistic men working there? Luckily, I've moved on from this mess of a company. Please do not listen to the positive reviews on Glassdoor and avoid working here at all costs. Trust me, I'm doing you a favour!

    Advice to Management

You need to get off your high horse and realise that you are awful at your job! Get some training before you even THINK about taking on such a role and actually let people do their job instead of interfering and thinking you know what's best, when... guess what? You DON'T! Stop talking over employee opinions and actually listen and value them! It will help in the long run! There are definitely too many cooks... in the kitchen and weird crossover management that is happening. If you are a manager of a certain team, then stick to that one team. Your opinion isn't needed elsewhere, especially when it doesn't apply to you or your role. You need to make changes and fast! Sort it out otherwise you won't have a job to go to very soon.

I worked at Ann Summers full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Honesty can't think of any.

    Cons

Where to start...firstly I honestly feel like the company will not last...there is a really high turnover because the directors truly do not know what the brand stands for or what they are doing, and it really shows...The office apart from the directors and CEO's are beyond filthy as is in desperate need of remodelling. 98 per cent of the managers there are highly incompetent and do nothing but undermine anyone who... is good at their job or has integrity...until they've had enough of their manipulative tactics and quit. There is also a lot of racist coworkers who bully or become micro aggressive towards anyone who 'does not fit it' with the 'Ann Summers culture'. Genuinely believe that a lot of people there have some form of mental issues...truly a toxic place to work. Please do not listen to any person on glassdoor who says otherwise. I didn't listen and I truly regretted it...I've moved on now but at the time it started to effect my mental wellbeing. I don't want anyone else to go through the same thing. Please find a another place to work where colleagues work hard, know what they are doing and treat you with respect. These people are not professional, they do nothing but gossip about people and are lazy. Especially most managers and directors.

    Advice to Management

Please get some training...a lot of people there are in positions that they are not qualified for. Whenever someone leaves you should not hand the position over to someone of a different profession. And if you do find someone remember you are paying them to do their job. So let them do it. There really are too many cooks in the kitchen and that prolongs certain projects that are time sensitive. Time to sort... yourselves out! Otherwise you won't have a job to go to every morning in a couple of years time.

I worked at Ann Summers full-time for less than a year

    Pros

30% on cheap underwear and toys

    Cons

Ann Summers is on a serious decline and has a highly unethical workplace. The Head office/Warehouse is poorly maintained and beyond filthy. Workers rarely smile and any talking or laughing will be cut short since that behaviour is only allowed for the select few. The company has an extremely high turnover. They cannot keep their staff whether permanent or agency. People come in for one day, see the working... conditions and never come back. Overtime is compulsory. Due to the lack of staff it is regular practice to do 10/12h shifts and to work 10 days without any days off. You are not told this during the interview process. If you refuse you will be fired. Intimidation and harassment towards permanent members of staff and agency workers is a common occurrence. Bullying and racism is rampant and is not ready to stop since managers/HR support and encourage it. Managers even go as low as threatening vulnerable and disable workers since they are covered by HR unwillingness to take action. Ann Summers claims that you can seek help via their procedures set in place if you are experiencing harassment in the workplace and that everything remains confidential. This is untrue. Confidentiality does not exist at Ann Summers. Any harassments issue that you raise will be swiftly passed on to the perpetrators. You will receive no support. HR will ignore you and management/perpetrators will proceed to harass and intimidate you further until you leave and if you don’t they will find some unfounded reason to fire you. Health and safety procedures are not respected. No manual handling training because too busy, No protective equipment supplied in the returns department where the workers are expected to handle used/contaminated toys with no latex gloves. If you refuse to perform any task you will receive a warning. During summer you will be working in temperatures of over 90F with no AC or fans. Avoid working here. The pay is low and the work conditions terrible and If your face does not fit or you have integrity you will be fired. The majority of good employees have resigned due to a toxic workplace and Ann Summers is left with only the bad apples.
