I worked at Ann Summers part-time

    Pros

The interview was fun and the staff were very friendly. We were provided with full training. Competitions for selling most items in an hour.

    Cons

Personally I didn’t have any negative experiences working for Ann summers but I could have been paid a higher wage and been rewarded more for hard work.

    Advice to Management

Keep workers updated on new products coming In. Maybe delegate tasks more accordingly so the sake person isn’t more or less always doing the same job.

    Pros

Big brand to have on your CV. HR were really helpful.

    Cons

Pay is not reflected when promoted and head office staff are often overworked. There is a lack of leadership and managers and directors seem to want to make changes to the brand but a lack of knowledge of how to get there, or unwilling to take the next steps to make changes.

I worked at Ann Summers (Less than a year)

    Pros

50% discount on full price, 30% discount on sale, fun working environment

    Cons

Can have catty atmosphere in some stores, expected to work long hours and overtime with not much recognition or appreciation from Store Manager or head office. Not every store is like this! My training store was fabulous, warm and welcoming.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and take their concerns seriously. Trust your staff and don't try to micro-manage as it demeans and de-motivates your staff to want to leave. My particular branch had 6 staff members leave in the space of 6 weeks, which in turn led to the Store Manager leaving and shortly after, so did the area manager! Goes to show how much of a shambles that place was. The store where I trained was excellent however, in a different region and their management style was above and beyond a lot of what I have ever experienced in most other work places.

I worked at Ann Summers part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Loved all the people, such a fun environment. It was like a little family. Fun items, 50% of full price.

    Cons

    Targets were a pain.
    Rotas changed last minute.
Management can be very cliquey, and expect a lot.

    Advice to Management

KPI's and ATV's too much of a focus, pressing customers in such an environment is unfair.

    Pros

Based in the middle of no where so you don't end up spending a fortune on lunch out or battling the central London commute

    Cons

Extremely hierarchical, don't look after their staff at all, decisions made at the top based on opinions or gut feelings, very poor & run down office

    Advice to Management
