HQ got no respect for regional offices, try to micromanage and take all the credit the regional office worked for. Pay is below market. The turnover rate was extremely high.

This review is for Apacer Fremont office. The pay at this company is at minimum. No annual performance review for salary increase. No basic minimum pay increase even just for inflation. It is likely that for 10 years, you salary would still stay the same. The managers do frequently require reviews on your work and ask you to improve and do more. It just has nothing related to your paycheck. The bonus structure is terrible and getting worse every few years which according to the management, is to "keep you hungry". The senior management is extremely crazy on MICRO-MANAGEMENT. Employees are asked to CC the managers in every outgoing email. All your email content will be closely monitored into each single sentence. If you failed to follow this requirement, you get warned and fired. No actual HR in house. HR duty is taken by the accounting department. By nature, the department head cares most on saving the cost including saving cost from stop supplying snacks, paper cups, fork, spoon, paper towel, hand soap and of course, your paycheck. Also, there is no open-door policy in the office. The management hold the retaliation on employees if anyone try to speak up. The company requires business trip but the standard meal reimbursement rate is at minimum, which you can only buy cheapest fast food during the trip. The general management was sent directly from the HQ in Taiwan and is lacking of the the familiarity of the local culture and labor law as well as the English language skill. Inappropriate jokes toward gender and race were frequently made during the official meeting, daily workplace conversation or company event. As there is no HR existed, management has not concerns for the consequence of any discriminating talk/action. The culture in this office is pure Taiwanese. The company culture encourages "obey", "be quite" and "be conservative". An open mind with new ideas is not welcoming and sometime may even get punished.
