Pros

Great pension. Yearly bonus based on company's success. Friendly staff. Flexi-time.

Cons

Management completely stuck in the 70s/80s in their style. No full working from home opportunities - currently 60% forced office attendance. No direct contact line to upper management - any concerns are filtered through around 3-4 layers (depending on role). Upper management seem reluctant to any organisational change or suggestions

Pros

Friendly, good renumeration and flexible working patterns in some teams

Cons

There are too many people in the organisation which have worked there 20+ years, and some have never worked anywhere else. This means that they are quite insular, and resistant to change, or suggestions. From experience, there are long serving staff who get to keep their positions despite substandard work / lack of knowledge, meaning there is little room for progression for newer people despite being knowledgeable in the marketplace & good at what they do.

Pros

Great company to work for. - Pay is more than fair for the location and people are ignoring the great pension and bonus. The company values experience and time in the business, salary can increase significantly for more experience employees. If you include the annual pay increases (based on merit), bonus, pension and the inflation pay rises the pay is very competitive. - Management, worked under 3 managers. All great, will not micro manage, they will make sure you are happy with the work and give you opportunities. Similarly, senior managers and directors are fair. - Workload: 36hrs a week, flexible work, 2days WFH. They do not expect overtime. - Opportunities for advancement: I joined as a temporary 1yr graduate but was offered a permanent contract in the first few months. An unrequested raise after my mid year review. Moved to a different department for more experience and offered to spend some time abroad. They are fully covering a qualification I picked (not requested by the company). If you show interest they will see it and will give you the opportunities. - People: friendly, willing to help. The more experienced ones were more than happy to mentor (any questions I had they were willing to take a call or talk whenever). - Diversity: good mix of male and female from different backgrounds. I got told from the start by a senior manager "If you are the best person for the job you will be chosen" and so far that is what I'm seeing

Cons

- Internal systems are outdated but a new system is being developed. - There is some resistance to new ideas, though they do listen to what you have to say. This is a well established business in its industry so this is quite normal. They are making some changes slowly to modernise. - Opportunities for promotions can be limited. A lot of employees stay in the company their whole career (again, good salary for location and overall good to work for) so promotions are given mostly when the incumbent leaves.
