Pros

- Excellent equity - Great product - Great technical vision (despite lacking the discipline/process to get us there) - People/coworkers are fantastic - CEO brings a lot of relevant experience and provides a lot of transparency to employees

Cons

- Poor benefits; weak healthcare, no 401k match. nothing much else to speak of - Management; the holy trinity (CTO, 2 VPEs) are all bullish, condescending, and deflect blame/responsibility onto everyone else. They aren't receptive to suggestions from the people on the ground, and don't have enough low-level context to do anything other than cause more chaos. Perhaps the best examples of seagulls that I've seen. The new Head of Product however, is fantastic, and I hope they learn/absorb from him and he's able to turn this around - Burnout; leadership justifies overworking and burning out the teams with "it's a startup" mentality. Despite a lot of attrition lately, they don't acknowledge there is a retention problem and aren't doing anything to address it. They believe that hosting a hackathon will solve all these burnout issues - HR is performative at best, they don't acknowledge there are cultural problems and don't do anything to fix them - Diversity is some of the worst I've seen, especially in tech, and especially in management. The company has a DEI-focused value and claim to care about it, but aren't actually doing anything to make meaningful changes. They are forming ERGs now, but said ERGs have no real meaningful change-making power

Pros

They must be made of unicorn glitter and espresso because they're magically efficient and were always full of unicorn talk and rock stars ! Thanks for keeping our workplace sparkling and unfathomably out of touch with reality. CTO has a really large book case of impressive books he likes to show on Zoom calls. Really knows how to keep his engineers and customers in their place with his worldly knowledge. A game breaking paradigm of customer relations. Great office & office manager, flexible wfh options, well stocked kitchen and free lunches. Very welcoming environment for those that embrace nepotism. Frequent history lessons from the CEO & CRO of their impressive fame and success. Paycheck arrives on time. Ongoing reorganization keeps you guess what's next - invigorating levels of stress for those that like to push the limits and take risks.

Cons

Where to begin: There is no strategy across the org: Product, Marketing or Sales. specifically. The dizzying "plans of the week" are nothing more than a distraction from the fact that revenue is severely lacking. Dig in and ask about the vision and strategy, it's REALLY concerning - because it's non existent. The product was innovative 3 years ago, now it's a commodity - no ability to innovate BEYOND a cute feature. The sales and marketing organization is a nostalgic trip back to the 90's - living on golf courses - burning cash at an astonishing level. Boondoggle after boondoggle with no return. It's probably good they can't close more business because the support organization can barely support the ones they have. How can the board allow such a group to continue you on this trajectory is Beyond Comprehension.
