Great people, but incredibly stressful! Favouritism is rife

Pros

Great people. Variety of different client accounts to work on, and great learning opportunities (especially for people earlier on in their careers).

Cons

High pressure, stressful environment. Working late and on weekends is normal. Favoritism is a problem too, with managers getting promoted into senior manager roles & director roles with zero people management skills.

Hi! And thanks for the feedback! We believe that a ‘shared vision and identity’ creates the freedom to be more. And growth requires feedback loops. I’m grateful that you shared this with us. Thank you also for the kind words about our team, client accounts and our training facilities here at Blue Array. The entire team has worked very hard to craft an outstanding culture, we really enjoy each other's company and will continue to bond with each other in our many social activities throughout the year. Listening is high on our list of priorities, we are committed to being excellent listeners here at Blue Array and we intend to continue with this focus to aid continuous improvement. On that note - we appreciate your input on workloads and favouritism, as you know we introduced new software in 2022 which aids all of our employees to manage their time and workload effectively. We have received great feedback on this system and will continue to monitor all employees' work-life balance. We believe there are many initiatives to enable harmony for our team members, including a shorter than average 35 hour week, just a 70% billable utilisation rate and empowerment to manage their own diaries to work at times most suited to them - we actively discourage weekend work and is in no way required or glamorised. We have robust processes in place to avoid bias, no one individual has the authority to make a people decision. Calibration sessions are held bi-annually with a panel of senior leaders, led by the People team, to ensure consistency across the different teams and managers. We continually invest in our line managers for them to create the best possible version of themselves as both client managers and line managers. We held a line manager training workshop last year and have recently introduced an inhouse coaching system which creates a safe space for our line managers to grow in areas they want to improve with each other. Thank you again for your feedback

Pros

The people, the benefits and the flexibility, it truly is a great place to work. B Corp focus, people and planet above profit many actions that prove this isn't just a tick box exercise Progression opportunities a plenty Only 70% billable targets allowing PDP time for progression

Cons

There are lots of bright people, experts in their field, and it can be hard to carve out a specialism within SEO. That said, it's great for learning as you're always helping each other grow. Multiple clients and verticals can be tough to manage, although does prevent boredom

A great company ruined by growth and favouritism

Pros

Overall, a friendly team. Great place to build long-lasting friendships. Talented people with great work ethic. There are a few inspirational leaders in the business. Excellent onboarding and learning opportunities. There is a group dedicated to diversity and inclusion. Lots of interesting clients to work with. A company with a good reputation in the industry. I was really proud to be a part of it for the first year and intended to work there long-term.

Cons

There are favourite team members who have formed the senior team. If you are not part of this group, progression is very tough. As the company has grown, almost all the original employees have left. Senior team members are generally not “people-people”. Premature promotions are given regularly. There is a reluctance to give promotions and pay rises to non-favourites. People do not come before profit. You are overworked. If you are not a favourite, you will be underappreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback, we value your balanced perspective, highlighting some great positives and some suggestions for improvement. We’re super proud of our team and our continued commitment to People and Planet over profit is focussed further by our dedication to B Corp, of which our Sustainability and D,E&I panels form part of. As with most companies achieving growth, new talent is harnessed to help drive the business forward and continuous change isn’t always comfortable. We seek to promote from within, ensuring fair training and progression opportunities. We have robust processes in place to avoid bias, no one individual has the authority to make a people decision.Calibration sessions are held bi-annually with a panel of senior leaders, led by the People team, to ensure consistency across the different teams and managers. Our team are all rounders and each have varying strengths. When opportunities arise we look to give people the chance to fulfil their full potential with us and not just review their current skills and we’ll look to improve such frameworks as the team grows. Should you feel there is more to discuss here, please do reach out to people@bluearray.co.uk. We wish you all the best in your future endeavours.
