I worked at Broadway Technology full-time

    Pros

Great co workers, no idiots, an intelligent bunch. Interesting and challenging work. Good social events.

    Cons

Flat chaotic structure. Finding useful information is nearly impossible. A lot of it is in peoples heads. What is commited to store is often out of date or wrong. They still think Excel and file shares are a cool way to manage projects. No KPIs for projects. Lots of technical debt. Consultants often just hack out the same solutions multiple times. Maybe in Python, C++, Java or whatever was on their laptop at the time. They have a narcistic "Broadway is Best" attitude. So end up writing their own colaboration tools and group messaging frameworks. This is in preference to concentrating on their core business. They only pay 50% of your benefits. The other 50% comes out of your salary. So check this detail with them before you join.

I have been working at Broadway Technology

    Pros

Employee centric policies. Free food and munchies. Excellent benefits. Unlike most NYC finance shops, people are not overworked or underpaid

    Cons

Not much scope for growth. Core products are mostly stable and most of the work is around bug fixes and adding fringe features.

I worked at Broadway Technology full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Transparent culture Good pay and excellent benefits Flexible hours and a generous work from home policy Great office locations

    Cons

Incompetent senior management have placed people with no software development experience as software development managers. These managers in turn force developers to commit to unrealistic deadlines leading to poor code quality. The company claims to operate as a meritocracy but favoritism dominates the culture. Management only rewards people close to it. Very high attrition rate: most of the good engineers work here for a year or two before moving to Google, FB etc.

I worked at Broadway Technology full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Ownership at Broadway is huge. You can take as much responsibility as you can handle which can lead to a potentially high workload. The workload comes with a lot of responsibility. It's impossible to hide behind others. The people here are very fun and exceptionally smart and many come from top schools. The challenges here are tough and you will never get bored. The benefits are top notch. There's high pay, plenty of flexibility in work schedule, company bonuses, free lunch and snacks.

    Cons

You may struggle in Broadway's environment if you're not a self-directed or you need someone to hold your hand in your work. That being said, internal support is nearly non-existent, and you can bet that most documentation is either missing or outdated. Broadway can definitely improve their internal support as it seems like all the answers are in the heads of a few senior developers who have been there a while. Work can be chaotic, and most of that stems from being vastly overcommitted to clients. Deadlines can be tight sometimes. There are some growing pains as some internal processes need to be refined and standardized, especially new employee onboarding.

    I worked at Broadway Technology

    Pros

Nice view from the office with an opportunity to dabble in finance and try to assume ownership

    Cons

Archaic structure with next to no opportunity for growth. All knowledge in the company seems to be held in the heads of employees both current and former. Documentation is out of date and finding information is made to feel like pulling teeth You are asked to be independent yet told to not be afraid to ask questions. It's a hilarious dichotomy which just makes you feel like you're a burden on others for not knowing everything. Whenever something is wrong, it's your fault yet when things go well, it's because Broadway is the best at what it does. At no point do you feel valued. Basically, this company feels like a college frat. Things are run a certain way and will not change. You either have to adapt or get out. Your concerns really will never be taken into consideration and those who are rewarded are those who put on the best face and are known better by upper management. Performance really has no concrete indicator, it's all perception. You are meant to be there regardless of what you're doing just for the sake of seeming like you're busy. You can do better than this company, believe me.

I have been working at Broadway Technology full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Somewhat open culture and good benefits. Reasonable medical insurance and pay scale.

    Cons

    - You will get buried in too much work and will end up working 10+ hours each day at minimum. People end up working over the weekend to catchup with the extra workload. - The amount of added responsibility or overloaded work doesn't transform into growth and bonus. Yes it does sometimes reflect in “Shout-outs” in company meetings, thats all. - Very few people who are close to the management get rewarded for hard-work, others are forced to do without any added benefits. - Nothing is managed in professional way and it does feel like the managers just creating task and throw around it to people and pressurize them to commit to a deadline. - There is no formal training to experienced hires and ofter its just jumping to the work right away on 1st day itself. - No Career growth. Have seen people literally stuck with what they are doing for 10+ years without any growth. - Whoever looks capable does leave to join Google or better opportunities and other people are stuck with this company. - Now the company is looking heavily into outsourcing work to other software firms outside USA. This may eventually lead to layoffs of employees. Outsourcing already resulted in closing of QA dept. - Outsourcing companies provide very poor quality work, but managers ignores that for economical reasons and also they get stressed out managing poor outsourcing companies. Management is often not cared about the humongous amount of extra load on employees to manage the work outsourced.

I have been working at Broadway Technology full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

I worked at many companies before starting my career at Broadway and have never felt so empower to affect change and take ownership as I have during my time at here. The direction of the company is driven openly and all employees are encouraged to speak up and get involved with everything that resonates with us. Broadway is also a true meritocracy that heavily values the self-starters who seek out new challenges so they can lend a hand and contributing from day one. They pay very fairly, have annual profit sharing, team retreats, great benefits, and freedom to work transition from location to location as your life evolves. I was in NY for a number of years, then asked to relocate to Austin... and that was no problem! This is an amazing place to work, to grow your skills and to hone your leadership qualities.

    Cons

The downside to rapid growth is there is a large workload and a lot of responsibility - this is not a place to hide. The business requires everyone proactively dive into the work and own it. If you are not ready to do that, this is not the place for you. Historically on-boarding and ramp up is steep curve and has been a challenge to many. With this in mind, the company is making large efforts to improve that process through team building, better documentation and tutorials, regular SME topic presentations, and better overall new employee support and tools.
