Stuck between a rock and a hard place

Pros

Many good people trying to do the best they can given the circumstances.

Cons

Bugcrowd has "bigcompanyitis", without actually being a big company. You get the bureaucracy, misalignments, gatekeeping, baggage, politics and disrespect of a big company but not the resources to make it work.

We recognize that growth and change can be difficult, particularly for employees who joined Bugcrowd during an earlier stage of the company. As we scale, we are continuing to evolve how we operate, make decisions, and align across teams. Our goal is not to lose what made Bugcrowd special, but to build the structure and accountability needed for the next stage of the company. We know that transition will not feel the same for everyone, and we are committed to supporting employees through that change while staying focused on building a stronger, more successful organization. We do want to address the comment regarding disrespect directly. Respect is a core value at Bugcrowd, and the experience described does not align with our expectations or with the culture we are working to foster. If there are specific incidents or concerns that you would be willing to share, we encourage you to reach out to HR directly or use our anonymous reporting channels so we can better understand and address them.

Pros

Good team mates, and the levels of management I interact with are genuinely great people Interesting problem space

Cons

The company seems to be adrift, there doesn't seem to be much direction coming from The Current CEO Priorities and direction seem to be flailing around wildly, unclear if it's C-level infighting, or just flailing around trying to desperately find ways of making more money.

Great people and work-life balance, but poor leadership

Pros

* Some great people in the company. Genuinely, some of the brightest minds I’ve had the pleasure of working with. However any skilled people left are actively looking to leave, so the pool of talent is diminishing due to leadership’s incompetence. * In my role, I felt I had a good work-life balance. There was pressure, but I rarely worked outside of my core hours. I have a family, so that’s appreciated. * Decent salary. Not incredible, but certainly better than many organisations. * Great brand. The social media team in particular do a great job in boosting brand awareness. The product/service isn’t always the best, but the outside perception is strong.

Cons

* Incredibly incompetent leadership. Whilst the company sinks, regular lay offs take place and pay rises are denied, the CEO jets around the world, staying in swanky hotels and holds meetings dressed in garish $1,000 sneakers. He won an ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ award last year, which is like giving the captain of the Titanic the “Captain of the Year” award. When you do cross his path, he barely spends enough time to look up from his mobile phone to utter “hi” before he returns to his device. The company, and everything it stood for, sadly died when the founder Casey stepped away (no shade on Casey- he’s a great guy). * You will be lied to about your role, and potential growth opportunities within the company. There isn’t much room for growth, and there is no desire to develop employees. * Communication is very poor, and the culture is especially toxic.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We appreciate your recognition of Bugcrowd’s flexible work-life balance and benefits, and we are glad those aspects of the employee experience stood out positively during your time here. We also hear your feedback regarding direction and leadership. Bugcrowd has been moving through a period of meaningful change as we sharpen our strategy, align our investments, and focus the organization on the areas where we believe we can have the greatest impact for customers and the market. That work is being led with intention by our CEO and leadership team, with a clear focus on building a stronger, more durable business for the long term. We recognize that periods of change can create uncertainty, and that not every decision will be universally agreed with or immediately understood. At the same time, we have confidence in the strategic direction being set and in the leadership required to guide Bugcrowd through this next phase. We are continuing to improve how we communicate priorities, create alignment, and help employees understand how their work connects to the broader company strategy. We remain committed to building an environment where employees understand our direction, know what is expected, and feel empowered to contribute to our mission. Feedback like this is important and helps us identify where we need to keep improving. We appreciate your contributions during your time at Bugcrowd and wish you the best in your next chapter.
