Pros

You can get some paid time off and benefits, after a year, 401k, fairly flexible schedule, easy EHR and documentation

Cons

You have to do minimum 50 sessions per week, often no shows and cancellations

Pros

Create your own schedule. Remote work.

Cons

The compensation model is misleading and inconsistent with what was presented as a salaried position. Pay is reduced when client hours aren’t filled due to cancellations, no-shows, or limited referrals, which feels more like an hourly structure than a true salary. The policy for vacation and holiday pay is confusing and results in significantly less paid time off than expected for full-time employees. For example: a vacation day is paid out per the "average" amount of clients you see that day of the week, rather than a full 8 hours as standard. What if I had 12 clients that day? They wont pay 12 hours. Makes no sense and feels like a questionable practice. Workload expectations are high, often exceeding 30 client hours per week in addition to documentation and administrative duties. There is limited support from management and poor communication regarding who to contact for specific concerns. Paid holidays and vacation days are minimal, and the overall environment feels focused on productivity over staff well-being. These factors contribute to high turnover and low morale. Zero recognition for hard work, management acts unprofessional, and you have to pay your own liability insurance, which I had never have to do at a W2 position.

Pros

NONE. Literally, the worst job I have ever had in this field.

Cons

Pay structure is unstable - they deduct pay for no shows. I selected a specific salary and had it cut down each paycheck despite making myself available for the required client hours indicated. Upper management was unprofessional and rude. No one seemed to have answers and they give you the run around. VERY limited time off and they incorporate the legally required sick days as part of your PTO days to make it seem like you are getting more time off when in fact, you are not. I experienced favoritism, with specific providers given quality referrals over other providers. VERY long hours, you can expect to be available for 40 clients per week, which can be extremely unhealthy in this field. No work/life balance. No time for my kids and partner. Benefits are below the average. Pay is below average. No support and constantly changing rules and guidelines that are hard to keep up with. Having my pay cut constantly was upsetting and discouraging and definitely didn't support having a therapeutic relationship with clients. When you start to see clients as dollar signs and quite literally they are costing you money each paycheck, it's VERY hard to be neutral and supportive. Don't play with my pay.

Pros

Working remote, gives some flexibility.

Cons

Very low salary. There are several options for salary options but I was never paid my full salary since they deduct pay for clients who do not show. This was confusing and upsetting. I never really understood the pay structure. It felt like it was intentionally confusing. Practically ZERO support. Upper management is nonexistent and you have a team lead - another therapist with their own heavy caseload and no time. It felt like a 1099 position honestly. LOTS of excessive work and scheduling and rescheduling. No free time. Low quality client referrals who do not show 50% of the time which causes your pay to never reach what you agreed on as your salary. I felt taken advantage of and overworked.
