Pros

The office is very pretty, and the snack bar is nice. There are some kind employees as well. Unfortunately, that's the extent of the pros.

Cons

Frankly, there's a lot of lying that goes on during their recruitment process. Extremely toxic work environment. Upper management expects absolute loyalty, and punishes employees who do not comply. Perks such as summer holidays are suddenly canceled at the discretion of the CEO. An unbelievable amount of distrust exists between upper management and employees, and upper management goes to extreme lengths to ensure that employees are controlled. Despite my contract saying to expect quarterly salary re-evaluation and bi-annual bonuses, I was told within a week of joining the company that I should not expect to receive either of those things. Career advancement is completely impossible. The company says they do not encourage overtime, and yet not working late is counted against you. Lack of strong leadership means that you only hear about your insufficiencies. You will never be told that you have done a good job by the higher-ups. Overall, I received the impression that money dictates the values of the company and nothing else. Anything that makes upper management money is considered good, and anything that doesn't is considered bad. All companies function like this to some degree, but I certainly did not appreciate my personal character being judged solely by how much money I was making upper management.

Pros

Free snacks and free lunch from 3 months of employment

Cons

For this company the cons absolutely overweight the pros. During my time working at CTW there was not a single day that I wasn't feeling anxious and stressed to come to work, due to major issues such as power harassment and discrimination. Management sets unrealistic goals that are not communicated to the employees, and employees are left to figure out the goals without any proper training when joining the company. Foreign employees (non-Chinese as the whole management is Chinese) are openly discriminated against and not given the same opportunities/responsibilities as other employees. Employees are punished for things unrelated to them and firing or demoting workforce is a daily practise. The company highlights that overwork is discouraged but still punishes employees for not working overtime. Employees are expected to keep an eye on the company chat 24/7 and answer to messages even at night. All communication is performed through company chat app and private conversations are not allowed, everything has to be done in a group chat. Management will often openly scold you in the group chats for things such as taking time off work due to sickness (even if it is just one day or the sickness is COVID-19). Please do yourself a favor and do not apply to work in this company if you want to preserve your mental health.

Pros

1. The work environment is pleasant, with free snacks and coffee, as well as complimentary lunch. However, there's a surveillance camera in the snack area monitoring how long employees linger; the free lunch could also be cancelled at any moment.

Cons

1. The boss has a challenging personality and is highly controlling. He monitors the office daily, and employees who are not engaged in their work or are using their phones could face employment instability. 2. The competence of middle and senior management is questionable. The CTO, who reportedly got his position due to his close relationship with the boss, is primarily responsible for managing wifi. Middle management also tends to exert pressure on employees, often attempting to reduce their salaries in this way. 3. The official work start time is 10 AM, but employees are expected to arrive before 9:45 AM, as promptness is highly valued. 4. Employees are expected to thoroughly dry their hands after using the restroom before reentering the workspace. 5. There is a dress code in place that discourages casual attire like sandals or shorts for certain employees. 6. Employees are expected to maintain a tidy and professional workspace, with limited personal items and no dust.
