    I worked at Captora full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    It is a start up environment, so all hands on deck and we wear lots of hats. Perks were good and the office was cool.

    Cons

    Not everyone felt the need to work as hard as the others, so things went south. Unnecessary meetings were a thing at this place.

    Advice to Management

    Next adventures, make sure to hire people with the same ideas and wanting to succeed, otherwise it will be another failure.

    Pros

    Angular 1.x was valuable experience for front end engineers Benefits were great Coworkers were a mixed bag: some good, some not to good; the so-called managers were bad

    Cons

    The Java backend was a total disaster. It was never architected properly. It barely worked and never worked well. It was always garbage. The front end went through 4 ground up rewrites: #1 and #2 were hacks by people who didn't know Angular and it showed and the product sucked. #3 was mediocre and kind of junky but getting on the right track. #4 (conversion to Angular 2) was never finished.

    Advice to Management

    Company shut down in May 2017; everybody laid off. Next time, pay much more to hire experts instead of trying to get by with cheap labor.

    Good people and flexible PTO.

    Lack of direction, and poor implementation of product roadmap.

    Advice to Management

    Sadly, it's too late. Captora is being dissolved, stripped down and sold for parts, leaving employees with no severance or bonuses earned. Will not be surprised to see the tech show up in a press release for another Silicon Valley company in the coming months, but under a different name.

    Pros

    They hire very good people, so u get to collaborate with the best. Flexi times and work from home schedules

    Cons

    They hire the best and then micromanage. Very political atmosphere. Undermines the talent. Leadership is like an Old boys club. Very closed circle. Keeps people and their inputs out to further poor agenda. CEO wants to do good and create a good culture but completely misses the mark . One of worst work environments you can imagine.

    Advice to Management

    Hire based on past work, promote based on work done at captora. Make a 180 turn on culture.

      Some really great people but they either resign or get fired

      Cons

      CEO is the reason why this company is going to shut down Massive layoffs in February 2017, including essential staff
