Pros

Great staff, good atmosphere, broad range of engagements, for people from outside the sector it's a great introduction into many aspects of telecoms - it knew the sector and was good at what it did.

Cons

The TMNG/Cartesian/CSMG merger wasn't smooth, and the company wasn't in as great shape afterwards as before. Mediocre training, quality of engagements varied dramatically, lost quite a few decent mid-level people they should have tried harder to keep, the company isn't the awesome strategy shop some of the senior managers like to think it is.

A sinking ship with no direction

Pros

- Great and friendly team, who are willing to help - Work-life balance is good

Cons

In essence, company turmoil due to poor financial performance for the past several years (hence being recently bought out by a private equity firm to avoid bankruptcy) has made Cartesian an unattractive proposition: - Progression much easier if you're one of the senior management's favourites, with the office acutely aware who is a favourite, leading to an overall reduction in company morale - Salary pales in comparison to similar jobs in other consultancies - Selling low-value work / undercharging for work to win business; the end result being uninteresting projects are done or delivering (good work) on projects that should be paying out more - No clue about strategic direction - at the very least, most projects the Strategy team do aren't truly strategic in nature - Training opportunities are very limited

Pros

Flexibility to work on different projects and to move between the consultancy practices in the organisation Good work-life balance Decent benefits package Friendly, smart dynamic people to work with

Cons

Career progression opportunities are limited Difficult to maintain high motivation levels due to the nature of the work, which can be dull People are leaving and management seem reluctant to replace positions Some senior managers are over utilised following internal restructuring
