Pros
The people have good personalities and are friendly
Cons
1. They got new HR that spent way too much time trying to convince us they’re totally different from the old HR , but they feel the same, just different faces and more emails 2. Old fashioned approach in terms of career trajectory, promotions…one of the many reasons they go on about wanting to be a global leader but will never become one. Global leaders in biotech have far moved past this model. 3. My manager was trash and I’m pretty sure just wanted someone to do all the work while he went on about being too busy so he could chat all day. The one thing I asked at my interview was if results from my own experiments would be communicated with me instead of above my head, and they promised they’re a small company who engages everyone…that was not my experience at all. My manager repeatedly cut me out of discussions of my own results and talked about them with everyone but me and then would get mad at me for not seeming engaged and said something dismissive like “well you could just look them up yourself” even though I did and my point was not that I didn’t know the results but why can’t I be included in the discussion of them. From day 1, I never felt engaged and as a result really couldn’t have cared less about the work because I was just a pair of hands to my manager. Maybe I’ve been lucky to have had only outstanding managers before, but i really can’t comprehend how mine got promoted to one.
