Not about the mission anymore

Pros

It is hard to think of any. It is all about favoritism and the leadership team thinks you have deep pockets and connections to be of value.

Cons

Don’t work here. It used to be about doing good for kids but the message got lost somewhere. Unless leadership favors you, there is not room for growth. No one takes your ideas seriously unless you have senior status. It’s all about favoritism and you are expected to cross so many unprofessional boundaries. It is a mess and they treat people like garbage.

Pros

Idealistic cause, convenient location and easy to get to Great benefits Many intelligent, passionate policy minds as coworkers

Cons

The turnover rate is terrible. Most are fired, some quit before the management gets the chance The culture inspires paranoia If you happen to be interviewing for the communications or development departments, quit while you're ahead. This department, in particular, has an absurdly high turnover rate. If you're hired, there' s a good chance you'll be forced or otherwise forced out within the first year.

Pros

Wonderful connections and causes to work on. The mission is always about the children at the end of the day.

Cons

Unspoken expectation of being online 24/7 from every level and consequences if you were not on your blackberry at all hours.
