Pros

Benefits are top-notch, and most of the team from the director level down are hardworking folks who are trying to do their best and the right thing for the citizens of Florida.

Cons

Citizens has always struggled to stay relevant in the salary market. As they bow to political pressure and bring folks back more and more, they're not even moving to a pre-COVID state, but at a dictorial 5 days a week. Much of the pro employee C level staff, have departed, and while the new CEO is a nice person, he is far more driven by the politics than the people.

Thank you for reviewing Citizens and sharing candid feedback about working here, especially as a long-tenured employee. We’re committed to providing a fair, market-driven salary and total rewards program. Our compensation program seeks to reward high-performing employees while maintaining internal equity and sustaining external competitiveness within our role as a non-profit, government-created entity. We generally use the median industry salary level as an initial target. Citizens continuously evaluates current programs and makes enhancements by providing meaningful rewards offerings that distinguish us from other employers. We know the recent business model change is a significant shift for everyone. But what isn’t changing is our commitment to employees. They are our greatest asset and always will be. There will be issues we need to address as we adjust to returning to the office. As we give this new strategy a chance to take hold, we stand ready to address concerns as they arise.

Recent changes are undesirable to the majority of employees

Pros

The benefits and general working environment— at least historically—are really good. A lot of talented staff who have been with the company for many years. Good training opportunities.

Cons

Recent changes, including return to office without any need to do so— have many questioning the current executive leadership. It has become apparent that the political climate is controlling the company rather than it operating as any similar P&C company. Many top level and valued employees have left the company in the last year making staff uneasy.
