Pros

Most of the people that I worked with on a daily basis were good people. I enjoyed my interactions with them and they were intelligent and excellent communicators.

Cons

There are a lot of things that I could say regarding the negative things that happened during my employment... I will keep my list short. - The executive team lacks direction, yet wants to be involved in every facet of the company, not allowing teams to move forward without their specific approval and guidance. - There is a serious lack of trust and autonomy. - Micromanagement in more than 1 area. - A commitment to diversity and inclusion that is just for show. It is shallow, meaningless, and surface level. Some of the phrases, words, and accusations of discrimination within these virtual walls were appalling. - Preaches flexibility and falls very short. This is a typical start up grind and you are expected to be on 24/7. - The benefits are lackluster to say the least. Medical is abysmal, and 401k is non-existent. There is the option of having some company stock, but there is little information provided about this and you have no idea what it is/could be worth due to an absence of transparency. - Communication within the company can be difficult to navigate. Executives and Management want to know what you are doing at all times (daily company wide meetings), and while there is an abundance of communication, there is also information withheld at various levels. The company lacks a framework for 1:1s, mentoring/coaching, identifying potential and opportunities to improve and grow your career. - To the above point, multiple employees were terminated within my time at CureMint, and these all felt out of left field. People didn't know they were in a bad position, didn't know that they needed to improve, and weren't given helpful feedback and the opportunity to do better.

Not a recommendable place to work

Pros

- Health benefits offered to full time (con: not contract) employees - Low meeting culture, depending on department - Product is interesting

Cons

- High employee turnover across multiple departments - No parental leave policy (punted because it wasn't relevant "yet") - No escalation policy exists to address or protect employees from retaliation when they raise(d) concerns about discriminatory, biased, or negative experiences - Leadership declined to make a public statement in support of Black Lives Matter in 2020 - Ego-driven environment - Leadership is not transparent with employees (claims they prefer "honesty" over transparency) I would not personally recommend CureMint to anyone in my network. In my experience, it is not a psychologically safe (for those who are familiar with this concept) environment for many, if any, employees.

Curemint Response

Thank you for taking the time to comment about your experience at CureMint. We are always looking for ways to improve, and feedback such as this allows the team and me to reflect on what we are doing well and where we can be better. I appreciate the positive comments and hope my responses to the con list are deemed insightful. - High employee turnover across multiple departments: We hate to see turnover, and as a young startup finding itself, we admittedly have missed the mark during our hiring process on a few occasions. After reflecting internally, we realized that there were a few things we could do to improve. 1. Hire slower 2. Crystalize our company core values and ensure they are visible and discussed throughout the hiring process. 3. Implement a standardized 1:1 cadence for each manager and team member. - No parental leave policy (punted because it wasn't relevant "yet"): Now that our team has grown from 8 to 23 employees, we felt it was now appropriate to establish a parental leave policy that is communicated to prospective and current team members. - No escalation policy exists to address or protect employees from retaliation when they raise(d) concerns about discriminatory, biased, or negative experiences: I am proud to state that starting late 2020 we made a commitment to invest in DEI experts to help us evaluate and recommend ways in which we can improve in this area. One of the outcomes has been the establishment of a policy that includes, but is not limited to, a direct mechanism in which anyone can communicate directly with me anonymously. - Leadership declined to make a public statement in support of Black Lives Matter in 2020: I take full responsibility for this decision and still believe it was the right decision. While I did address this internally and created a space across the company to discuss it, I did not feel comfortable commenting on it publicly. In full transparency, I did not feel I had enough experience or understanding of the situation to speak on it in a meaningful way, as we were not sure at the time what we could do to help. Since this time we have invested heavily (for a company at our stage) in our DEI culture, making it one of our core values and KPIs. - Ego-driven environment: Our first core value is "Team First", and I personally will not stand for anyone's ego getting in the way of that core value. It hurts me to hear that your experience was anything different. We have established 1:1 formats and anonymous methods in which violation of the team first value can be brought to the surface so these types of feelings can be addressed. - Leadership is not transparent with employees (claims they prefer "honesty" over transparency): Compassionate Candor is one of our core values, and we pride ourselves in honesty. We try to be as open and transparent as possible without burdening our team with tons of information that does not necessarily affect their day-to-day life. Brandon McCarty

Pros

Great energy, lots of talk about team building, diversity, leadership

Cons

Lots of people fired. Nothing wrong with that except how it is done. No time for improvement plan, fired without warning. Makes you wonder if company values are reflected on how they manage the company. Rating compensation due to not having benefits at the time I was there and I am unsure how good the health benefits are now.
