Pros

Great co-workers. Great customers (sometimes). Loved working with the designer brands. That’s about it. Nothing else. (I’m just trying to make the minimum word count)

Cons

There are so many cons I don’t even know where to begin! First off they are so unprofessional it’s ridiculous! Everyone gossips about everyone! And I mean everyone...upper management, managers, and employees. Second, the Old Town Alexandra location is absolutely disgusting. There are roaches running everywhere and upper management could care less. There is also watering leaks all the time and the basement (that is full of clothes and shoes) floods like every time it rains. The conditions there are deplorable and disgusting. Also when we asked to get our water cooler replaced because it stopped working (and have roaches in it) it took them months to replace it! We have to constantly bug them about it. Third, they are always shorted staffed because they keep firing people. Because of this, it puts a lot of pressure on the staff. Lastly, if you are sick or need time off for a family matter forget about it. I became very ill and at first they acted liked they cared about me and then when I couldn’t show up to work because I was ill they fired me. I was fired because I left early one day and called out another because I was ill. I had never called out before but apparently if you call out once you are “unreliable”. Even if you’re sick!!! And to show how unprofessional they are, they fired me over email. They didn’t even have the balls to call me or tell me to my face. I have read all the bad reviews and each and every single one of them is accurate. This place is not a place you want to work for! Believe me! They really don’t care about their employees...they just care about themselves. They will use and abuse you until either you quite or they fire you. I truly thought this was a great place to work..even with the bad reviews and constant gossip. But they didn’t care about me and slowly but surely it showed. And then when I got ill, they turned their backs on me and fired me. I should of listened to the reviews...

Hey there! We are sorry that you didn't enjoy your time with us. It is truly unfortunate as we have so many wonderful employees and a great team atmosphere. The first thing told at on-boarding is that gossip is not tolerated. Sadly, we cannot control what people say or do at every moment, but we count on great staff to diffuse situations rather than escalate them. Reliability is essential in staff and we try our best to balance the paid vacation and sick leave with proper staffing in the store. Each employee receives paid leave and vacation as well as the opportunity t request time off one month in advance. We've been disappointed in Glassdoor allowing untrue reviews to stay posted, but we understand they want employees to have a full scope of the work environment. Hard working, honest and reliable team members thrive at Current Boutique. We hope you've found a better fit and are feeling better! All the best, Current Boutique.

Pros

I had great coworkers, and access to great clothes

Cons

I didn't feel like my ideas or suggestions were truly valuable. The owner was openly disrespectful towards employees. I was fired for asking for a more safe work environment. Among the things she said to me were "I'm not going to pay someone $50,000 a year unless they make me $100,000 a year," "If people are afraid to ask me questions they just need to grow up," "I have plenty of other people who want to work here." I'm hesitant to say more, because I'm nervous about the owner's response. Also, getting time off was difficult because you needed to find somebody to cover your shifts, PTO collected very slowly so taking a vacation was virtually impossible. I worked there for two years and never took more than 5 days off in a row.

Thank you for all you did to serve our customers and consignors over the past two years - we appreciate it. We are excited to be able to reopen to our customers. It's been a challenge to comply with all of the requirements but it's for the best our staff and everyone that visits our stores. We wish you best best in the future! Carmen

Pros

Full timers get benefits, health, dental. 3-5 PTO days based on how long you've been with the company. Full time managers get a monthly bonus if they meet a percentage of the goal (only obtainable if you have worked there past 90 days).

Cons

Training is disjointed. You might do some in the home office, some in the store, not very consistent. All staff realized we received totally different variations of training. WAAYYYY too much is expected of employees. You're expected to run a store, interact with customers, answer phone/email, enter 100-200 items and go through consignment all at once....and the store must be spotless. Couldn't agree more with other reviews that you don't have much of a personal life, and you're not expected to. Definitely not a good job for anyone who is thinking of starting a family or has one. Only one location has enough employees, every other location is seriously understaffed. Turnover rate is high (eve for retail). Any promises about growth is a joke.

Hey there! The outlined con's are also the direct expectations set out in training and in job descriptions given to all employees. We've been in business over 10 years and have had wonderful teams who have accomplished - and exceeded - these expectations. This is a great job for folks who are looking for a challenging role that will teach business and time management. We stick to a 40 hour work week to allow everyone a work-life balance. We also promote almost entirely from within. Our current District Manager started as a Part Time Sales Associate 4 years ago. Our previous one as an Assistant Manager. Our HR team is located out of the main office and all stores are equipped with security cameras which we can also view remotely from headquarters. With the high level of inaccuracy in this review, we do need to flag it. We hope that you have found success in your next professional career!
