DMA is on the cutting edge

Pros

Being a member of a small firm offers lots of opportunity for work-life flexibility, well-rounded experience, (not confined to a silo), build strong relationships with clients, and autonomy and influence in leadership. I love that DMA is entirely committed to making a positive difference in the built industry -- from efficient building envelopes, to raising the bar on minimal code standards, to applying the principles we teach to our own homes and lives. The work and philosophies at DMA are cutting edge.

Cons

There are fewer teammates to shoulder large tasks.

Pros

The biggest pro about DMA is the companies values. This team is at the cutting edge of green building and I can't express enough how rewarding and fulfilling that is for me. Every project is different, and we are committed to finding the best option for each building - residential or commercial. It is an exciting field to jump into as Denver moves towards all electric appliances and EUI mandates. It's been great working with a small, driven team. Red tape is almost non-existent, and our well rounded team works well together to get the job done. It has been a pleasure working with my colleagues. The flexible schedule supports my outdoorsy lifestyle well. As long as my work is completed on time and to the best of my ability, I have lots of flexibility with where and when I get that work done. Lastly, the office space is right in the foothills with beautiful views of the front range. We have a great "lap" around the block for quick walks that break up desk time, and clear creek canyon is a mile down the road. I have really enjoyed my time at DMA so far.

Cons

Less of a con and more of a statement: Working at DMA is not a "hand holding" experience. We like to stay at the bleeding edge of green building technology and practices, and therefore it is up to all employees to take the lead on different matters. In my experience, DMA team members always make themselves available for feedback and peer review, but direct support often comes from outside the organization and requires some research.
